How do I make Win Explorer views permanent

I have reached my wits end as to how to make the view settings I want in Win File Explorer permanent. I prefer the list view and can get it for all the folders but when I reboot the view settings have gone back to folder. I would like to kill the little sh#t at microsoft who designed/developed this option along with those responsible for the email/rules export features and general so called help(less) system, but thats for another day ....arrghhh!

Many thanks if you can help
    Rex

    In XP:

Open windows explorer and go to any folder and choose list view.

then go to Tools/folder options/view/apply to all folders.

    I think that's it.

I already tried that and as I already said in my initial posting I have no problem getting it to apply to all folders but the problem is, is when I reboot this setting is lost!

From what I've heard it's an XP bug.

Set ALL of your windows, desktop icons, etc. the way you want. Open Regedit.exe & use the Find function for "Nosavesetting". Change all of them to one (01 in a binary key). Or, Tweakui has a "Save Explorer settings" you can uncheck -- does the same thing. Sounds strange, but it works on W9X or NT4.
