very very low frame rate
my friend computer is getting a VERY low frame rate (2-3 fps on 640x480) and choppy sound on the newest version of MS combat flight simulator 2. he has a p4 2.4ghz 1gig of memory, asus ti4600 video card and asus p4b533 motherboard.....ive tried turning off background programs updating drivers etc. what the hell is goin on here? this game should be running well over 150fps.

Are you sure he's using the correct drivers? You didn't mention the OS. Win2K and XP may assign older nVidia drivers and lock out the new because of "the unsigned driver thing" (my quotes). Manually update the drivers and don't let Windows "search". Select from the database list.
It's not easy out there on the bleeding edge, is it?

its a windows me box, and i loaded the newest nvidia detonator drivers (which are WHQL certified)

make sure you install directx and your vid card drivers in the right order. eg. my ati card requires you to install dx8.1 before you install the drivers.

Another possibility is old video driver conflicts. Switch the adapter to "Standard VGA", reboot, use Detonator Destroyer and reinstall the new drivers.

ill try the detonatory deystroyer tonight, but yea dx 8.1 is installed.

I have same problem before in my Win 98SE. I removed and re-installed firmly my video card. Time will come that circuit boards somehow warp due to heat.
