Always good to backup emails (.dbx files) to another HD or burn them on a CD (or 2 or 3...)
If you did that you could try a full back up by replacing the corrupt files with your backed up ones, and see if it works. And then clean it up a "little"! 2 GB is more than what Outlook can handle.
