    Memory over 1GB?

    My friends PC will not except 2x512MB of DDR ram(both sticks are fine)it will except anything under 1GB but nothing over. The web site says it should except up to 3GB

    Gigabyte GA-&DXR+ Win XP

    Those are number one RAM . Try to load setup and CMOS default in the bios ,save and restart.

    Maybe you should update to the latest bios for the board. If the bios is old it may only support 1 Gig.

    Why on earth do you use ECC/Reg on a board that does not support it? It's more expensive, a tad slower and may cause problems on the VIA chipset. If you bought from Crucial you should have used your memory selector tools and it would never come up with the ECC/Reg modules.

    As for your problem, how are you trying to add the extra memory?

    Do you have 2x 512 and you add another stick? or you replace a 512MB stick with a larger one?

    Is it the BIOS that does not see the RAM or the OS?
    Do all sticks (try one by one) work in all slots?
