How do I find my CDRW's firmware version?

I have win2k pro and a Ricoh RW7040S scsi cd burner. A lot of cd-burner apps say my cdrw will work, if it has a certain firmware version. If it's not up to date can I upgrade the firmware?

    Thanks all.

Yes, most all firmware can be downloaded from the manufacter's website. To find out which firmware you have go to control panel, then settings, then hardware, then device manager. Click on the property option when you have your cdrw highlighted and then check on the performance tab. It should list the firmware version there.

You might find the latest BIOS flash for your drive here.

lots of advice but not what you needed to know first, eh? go to system properties, then highlight your cdrw under the cdrom category and select properties... you'll see the firmware version on the settings tab
