As far as I know, it's ok to mount them anyway you want. But if you leave them that way for a long time, then you change its position it could possibly cause problems.

According to Crucials specs it uses 2.8ns, how much faster can a BBA card be?
I thought since the 8500, ATi has told its partners to stop messing around and stop being so cheap.

There probably atleast a step above Deer/Ausin/Foxxcon/L&C/the other million rebadged brands. So I wouldn't expect the chance of it to suddenly blow up in your face to be very high.

Random reboots and corrupted data... sounds more like a RAM problem to me. Not to sure how a video card could corrupt your OS...
