Did you get your clean boot disk? If downloading is a problem try a local computer vendor and ask them for a system boot disk after you explain your situation to them do not bring your own floppy...

I have seen this problem a few times. If you have any extra memory that you know is good try changing it out with what you have installed already. Any size will do but remember to match the speed....
