the command interpreter is called 'command.com' make sure that file is on the disk, or whatever boot media you're using. then add the fdisk command to the 'autoexec.bat' file.

it wouldn't let me reinstall it. i reinstalled linux and it still doesn't work.

every time i try to run linuxconf i get a message saying 'Segmentation Fault (core dumped)
what does this mean and how do i fix it?

this is reaching but you don't have the CMOS clear jumper in the clear position when you start it do you? it wont boot like that. you have to have it at the default setting
