Drop the ORB and get a real cooler .... like a Volcano or similar. Orbs are notoriously poor performers. :rolleyes:

Do you mean Slackware 8.0, SuSE 8.0, Mandrake 8.0 or Redhat 8.0 ?

I ONLY login as root. Been doing it for years, without ever trashing a system or getting hacked. Being a bit of a Unix wizard helps me in locking it down tight. :D

Mandrake has the option of auto logging in 1 user at boot up time. Versions 8.2 & 9.0 have this. You get asked at install time, if you want to use this "feature". I always say no. :cool:

Sure, you can do it that way ..... but it's not ideal.
If you have 256 MB (or more) of memory, a 300 MB swap partition is enough.
I have mine layed out like this:
/ 500 MB
swap 300 MB...

The TT 6Cu is an EXCELLENT cooler. I have this cooler on my XP2100+. Runs at 43C - idle and 48C under full load. And ......... real quiet @ only 31 dBa. :cool:

The 3Com 3C905 works fine under Linux ! I'm using it right now with Mandrake 9. Have also tried it with RH 7.3 and it worked, no problems at all. :confused:

I have recently done a couple of system builds with the Gigabyte GA-7VA board, and IMHO this is the best KT400 board currently on the market. A very sweet board at a good...
