When you remove the drivers, shutdown for a minute, then boot up. Could well have a flipped byte in the ram causing the problem.

very likely Windows 10 changed the default program for PDF files to be Edge browser. I would suggest to change PDF files to use Adobe Reader DC to open. Windows Fax and Scan now should attach PDF...

I might run trim once a year, but then again , That is all Win 10 defrag does.
Windows or Linux, with SSDs, I have just about said the heck with defragging.
