The mobile Athlon is a good idea. Another option is a Duron 1800. Dirt cheap and decent performance. You clearly should get some sort of nForce2 m/b. The particular one that's best for you...

This whole BTX form factor thing is going to be interesting. Intel has a lot of clout, but it's hard to see how Intel is going to force this onto reluctant m/b manufacturers. Since it's strictly a...

It depends how you want to define 'best'. The 64bit is clearly going to be better performing. Soyo isn't one of my favourite manufacturers mind you. It depends on what you want to use it for though...

As mentioned, the true underlying bus speed is 133Mhz. The term 266 is somewhat inaccurately applied since there are 2 signals per clock cycle. The 33 is the PCI bus speed (33MHz).

I agree with most the others that you didn't 'screw yourself over' with the system you purchased. You might have gotten a better performance / dollar ratio with AMD 32bit, or better overall...

With the XP2600 there are several versions. There are 166 and 133MHz FSB Tbreds as well as a newer 166MHz FSB Barton (might also be 133MHz FSB Mobile Athlon version as well). So the key is to...

The A7S333 doesn't support 166MHz FSB so it's not going to support the XP2800. You won't have much success trying to OC the m/b either, since there's no 1:5 divider.

Excellent choice, but not cheap.

The ASUS should be good. The MSI K7N2G-L would also be a good choice.

Good reliable, I would recommend an Intel m/b (865 or 875 chipset). My second choice would be ASUS, same chipsets.
