yea im quite confused about the deal with opterons and the athlon64's coz they seem like they might clash? Late take up of the opterons, and perhaps reduced prices when the athlon 64 arrives....

Those are valid points - i just want to make clear i never brought up amd in the first place - p4 gamer suggested that the 1700+ would beat my chip - prior to that i only defended my chip.
