3dmark2001 is a lot less intensive I think. the third test on 3dmark 2003 seems to be the best for seeing if there are any artefacts coming from your hardware. if there are none on that test then you should be pretty safe all round :D

Score=15,237 pretty much maxed out, although I will try more, since no artifacts--RH-- DJ, go over to the 2001 forum here to post your 2001 marks. Lots of posts there. Since most nvidia cards have a tough time on the 2003, I though it may be a better compare of hardware. Nothing against nvida folks, that is all I have had up until now. Competition is good for all of us, as we will get better, faster, and cheaper cards from both companies.

dam i just got 5608 on 3dmark after overclocking which is pretty good for my sys considering i only have a P4 2.4 533 fsb
recently overclocked from 133 to 150 fsb, so im running at 2.7. im planning on getting to 3.1 or 3.2 but first i need water cooling, anyone got any ideas on a good water cooling system?
also, i want to raid 2 WD360GD's which are 10k Serial ATA drives at Raid 0 on my IS7... ill keep you guys posted if i end up doing that

Since one can't see the resolution, decreasing that to 800x600 would be my guess. I have a hard time with bitmaps and jpegs passing themselves off as legitimate scores... ;)

3DMark2003 is very graphics card intensive......nothing much happens when I clock my system....but clocking 9700pro up gives far better results.

ok, here's an update of my 2001 score. this time it's legit, check out the res etc. entered far more aggressive memory timings and seems to make a hell of a difference for 3dmark scores. upped my sandra memory bench by about 150mb/s. :D:D

hey x51, i cant see the system u tried to hyperlink before, it pulls up mine for some reason lol.... i asked be4... anyone know a water cooling sys that would get my p4 2.4 to 3.2 ghz? i got it to 2.85 without anything going wrong, and im using a volcano 7+.... also im not quite sure about the voltage settings, right now its at something like 2.525 v. when i set my cpu at 3.0 ghz the temp i get is something like 48 C and i was wondering if i needed to up the voltage... when i start to get into windows my comp just restarts... im thinking either voltage, or overheating... anyone help?

My cpu was at 1.550v(yours seems kind of high--sure it is not mem volt??)

When I got up close to 3300mhz, sytem would start rebooting, but not because of heat, as temp never went above 50c per ASUS probe, that was just the limit to the cpu speed/or memory I guess. Others here can probably be of more help, I am just learning.
DJ--That 9500 beats my 9500Pro by about a 100. Do you even have it o/c, as if flashed to o/c, would show up as a 9700pro I think?? Where did you start on the memory timings DJ, I have not messed with those yet?? Would like to learn something here?? Give me some hints?? --RH--

roadhog, i altered the timings in the bios, u have to change this setting which is 'memory timing by spd' to disabled which gives u a bunch of manual settings including cas latency, cas to ras latency, ras precharge etc.... thats how i boosted my score.
3dmark is SO graphics card intensive it's untrue. My memory speed made no difference really. Only about 100 points compared to 1000 or so in 2001. 9500 is only 64mb remember so the patch only upgraded it to a 64mb 9500 pro (8 pix pipelines), clock is at 350 mem at 310 both stable, no artefacts.
memory timings initially bummed out 2001 so knocked fsb down to 275 now instead of 280.
gonna do some more tweaking later, memory can squeeze a lil more hehe :D

nameless you have the same motherboard as me - get overclocking!!! i've pumped mine up to 3.3ghz which also means I have the benefit of 1100mhz fsb. your 3dmark bottleneck as the older nvidia cards cant handle it. 5900 smacks **** on it though.
demon executer, check your bios. there is no overclocking tool as such, but if you have a newer motherboard you should be able to adjust system frequency in your bios. currently it's probably set to either 100, 133, or 200. Try upping it a notch at a time and see how far you can go :D
Ok, I fooled a little with overclocking my video card and my CPU. Turning the Video card frequency or memory up too high resulted in artifacts, so the best test was Game Test 4 on 3D-Mark03 to see these. I just played with the settings till I saw no artifacts. Also, when increasing the CPU speed, increasing it 10% resulted in some weird jerky frame rates during testing. So I was forced to lower it to 7.5%.

thats a pretty **** nice score. on my other system I cant seem to get the 9700 non pro past 5300. those 9800s clock like beasts!! :D
you could try tweaking memory timings - but this does depend on the quality of the memory you have. However, 3dmark 2003 is very graphics card intensive, so it's mainly graphics card adjustments that seem to make a difference and you've done that.
with the cpu adjustments, try overclocking manually - setting fsb, vcore and things like that yourself. You'll be able to fine tune your cpu performance a little more perhaps.
ok, i messed with overclocking on my ATI 9800, just a little, i took the core up from 324 to 351 and the memory from 290.25 to 301. and my previous score was 4750, and this score with the overclocking is 5078, not to bad. thanks, Demon Executor
thanks roadhog, ill try that with the mem... i think its only at 2.5, but ill try it again soon and keep u updated, i heard of a guy overclocking his 2.4 to 3.6, thats pretty nuts, but yeah its 2.4b... oh yeah, and how much would you say you could overclock a radeon 9800 pro without heatsink on the memory and the factory heatsink on the gpu
try taking it up further, you should be able to get 370-380 out of the core and 325+ on the mem without any trouble. Look for scores in 2003 of 5500+.Quote:

I would go with the ATI 9700 or 9700Pro(or 9800 or 9800Pro). Depending on what you can afford. I have not seen any write ups on the 5900, which is the only card that would equal or best the above ATI cards. --RH--
overclocking a bit, now at 2615 for the 9600.
on a budget get a 9700 non pro if you can get hold of one as they can clock to 9700 pro speeds.... if you have the mmoney get the 9700 pro as these can be overclocked like a true beast....
i'm assuming u dont have endless money, but if u can afford it I would personally get the 9800 pro... almost on par with the 5900 on benchmarking, but is more of an all-round card, doesn't require too much space like teh 5900 and is quieter. :D
