yes, lowering the resolution will give you a higher score. I always take the default settings for 3dmark (1024x768). I guess I won't beat my head into a wall trying to figure out what is going on. :p I got other things on my mind ATM, like work. ack. :(Quote:

So just so you no mine was not at default, I changed my screen Rez to 800X600 and no sound test.
Is this what made me get so high?
As for my cpu, I run at 3.8G (237x16). I included that with my pic (CPU-Z). I try to include Video speeds, CPU speed and score. That's what I see people doing on other forums.
glad ur not smacking ur head on the wall so hard, ahh guess my score dont count to much yet, ill post again later with the correct defaults, I must not have changed them back after the crashing problems I was having.
NP. I only did a couple runs with the VXG 71.24As then I went to sleep. As a consolation, it got me to at least try out Daishi's drivers. Nothing works on insomnia like a 14+ hour workday. :p
First run with new card.....12151
BFG 6800Ultra (450, 1.17Ghz) using 67.66 drivers
AMD 64 3500 (@215x11)
1Gb corsair XMS3200 (2,3,3,5)
Its lookin good...but gotta get more
new drivers maybe
Ahhhh....new Forceware 71.25 drivers.....
13,650
:D
yep. drivers make a big difference. unfortunately, the only approved drivers are the 66.93s. anything we do with other drivers is just for fun. :t
hmm... i need to install 2003 again and see what i get with default settings
Here's my result from build 3.1? (off an old cover disk)
Ran at default settings but the final sound test froze and I had to press escape, but I got a score of
797
My specs are:
Athlon 700Mhz
Gigabyte 71XE
640 Mb SDRAM
Inno3D Geforce 3 Ti500 (nVidia 21.83 drivers)
Samsung SP0802N HDD (7200rpm, 2mb)
Any good?

Finally got my 6800 (Leadtek, the one with copper cooling, looks great with my NF7, copper memspreaders, mobo cooling and fan guards! hehe), the pipeline wasn't unlockable without artifacts, but i'm hoping to change that with a bios flash, volt mod and some as5 sometime this week. The vertex shader unlocked no problems and i've bench looped for over a day with a stable overclock of 390/890. Not bad... running 66.93 and waiting new official drivers. Once they're out, i'll mix it up with some beta's and xtreme drivers.

...not bad, not bad. :)

A few tweaks and voila!

1700+ @ 2.45Ghz (222x11)
768MB CH-5 2/2/2/5
6800NU @ 390/890
WD 80/120GB JB's
11339
Imagine what you 'd get with a big CPU upgrade... great score with that processor....
Probably be a cold day in hell before I could afford one of those,so I am stuck with my Fx5900..but it does a fine job overall in most everything out there to date.....but a score of 5870 is a long ways from 1100+. ;)
Here I sit remembering hitting 6500+ with my 3200 @ 2.5 and my 9800 Pro oc'd, not too long ago. And it was the best score at the time! sigh....... Time to retire Betsy and bring in the new. She' been a good ol' girl.
Hey hon, can I use the visa card this weekend???
Intel p4 2.4B
384Mb memory
GeCube radeon 9550 speedy edition
running at 475/325 core/mem
score is 3765
Here's my latest with the XG 75.90A drivers.
There is an idle temp issue. I had to set the 2d at 401 for core. Other specs are on the pic.
Gotta run to the gym. 3dm05 later tonite.
Tightening ram timings helped a little bit.

Midknyte.. How in the world can yu get the bus speeds to jump up 150...... I can believe the clock speed OK.
I could push my machine some more..but I think it just wouldn't be as stable. 5-10% OC is plenty for me...but I also only have a last generation VC. I have the 2.8 Northwood and sih today I could have gotten that one....as it is even lower in price then what I paid for mine originally.
14000 is an awefully good score. How much does the OC come into play? Maybe in games or other media of that type... things probably move faster and more fluid at higher resolutions.
;)
237 FSB is not that much. There are guys going way over 250. Some are closer to 300.
You need really good ram AND you'll probably need to increase the core voltage.
OCing the CPU doesn't do much for 3dmark, but it helps in other games. OCing the video card makes the most difference.
I keep my stuff at 400/1100 for day to day use. it's way fast enough. :D
Do you use the 6800GT VC? Mine does OK at around 400 and 800.
I agree..that the biggest differece is in the VC bus speeds..as sifting through all the tech. data and info..in the progress of better video properties, this is first..then it helps always to have a high end processor. It is really not that hard to follow or figure out and yes the Memory one has...is extremely important ,as it is the one thing that has to deal with all of this HW.
It is my opinion that if one has a high end machine to begin with...and all the other HW..including meemory and VC are top end..that for most ..it is not all that necessary to push it more ..other than for personal benchmarks or status...or just plain curiousity.
I am sure, upon personal reflection, that if I had what you and some here have in the very latest HW out threre,I myself would do the same.. ;)
I'm running a PNY 6800GT with EVGA copper heatsink.
You lucky devil.... that is the card i want. problem is..I am in some personal debt and $400.00 is more than I can afford.
More than likely ,I will be able to get it this year sometime...:x ;)
7933
on
6600gt agp
amd 64 3000+ winchester(1.8ghz)
512mb ocz ram, 2-3-2-5
Will see about oc'ing video card a little more(at like 509core/1024memory atm) and restarting comp(been on for hrs) and see what I get.
Oc'd, restarted, and using 76.41 drivers now instead of 76.10.
Got 8255 this time in 3dmark03.
Oc'd at 524core/1051memory now.
I am going to get in trouble for this :(Quote:

Well, I need a 64 bit processor. Not bad, but it could be better. 76.44 drivers.

I managed to get 11844 by bumping the core to ultra but it wasn't worth the snap and the upload to post it.
SP2 has knocked me down quite a few points. I might have to reinstall windows. :p
I understand how you or others always want to get a higher score,or wahtever, but that is a sreal good score also.. Are you not happy enough with that ro is it just one of those status things..like who can get the highest score??
From what I heard some drivers for Nvidia cards may produce a higher score..but also each has its own idosycricities about other things which may suffer.
Motherboard, memory type and timings, and bus speeds play an important part, and maybe teh 64 CPU 's do hold a key. Who knows.
If you have the time and money to invest..just to give something a .05% increase then go to it.., but I just don't see the point.
From yur post Badriver...you had the ram timings at 200,and I think yu could up those some, and that would help..as might OC just a tad...like 5 or 10 % for the CPU.
Still its a real decent score..nonetheless.
;)
I really don't care about it RabbitRunner. I was able to do slightly over 12000 before SP2. I am not buying anything until I can't game or something blows up. Status schmatus. :D
That is why the sticking out tounge smiley was used, like this. :p
I hope you realize i was not trying to be obnoctious or rude.
I also realize people do it just for the sake of doing it to see what they can get.
Most of the highest scores here were acheived through some sort of overclocking and raising the bus speeds a great deal..
For me.. if and when I get the 6800GT VC someday, I am going to be estatic to get scores of over 10000. It must be sweet to be able to run evrygame at the hhigest resolution and highest VC settings and still get 60FPS or higher.
Little by little the prices are dropping some..but anythng over 200.00 is still alot of money to me..
I would like to get the VC first before anything else..,but my latest craze and purchase is going to be a case mod. ( new PSU with UV lighting and entire innards- cables all UV.
I don't get taxes back anymore like alot of people now,and its too bad as i would use that for the new VC I suppose.
Right now, this computer I have is the most expensive thing I own. Don't own a car right now.
 :p ;)
No man, I didn't think you were being obnoxious at all. That is what sucks about the net, all you see are typed words.
I may get a 64 bit Athlon later but I am waiting. I am never top of the line. I am going to wait until everybody wants dual core and then buy a straight 64 when the prices drop. I am cheap. :D
if ram timings effect it alot, then i could possibly get a higher score, i dunno...
Becuase my ram is rated PC4400, but its running Pc3200, at CAS 2.5: 4-4-8
which is horrible for it right?
i was wondering if i could force the timings down to 2-5-5..or would that stress out the memory too much?
Shadezero.... i would recommend you do some searching around on what the ram is able to do...as i would think it could be overclocked easily and even the timings tweaked...sounds good.
BadDriver.. I am very frugile also..by inherent personality.but i like to look at it the same way. Always I talk about and tell people here to have some patience and wait a bit before going out and blowing all yuor money on something either unproven or overpriced at the get go.
VC's are are a good example of this as they are finally coming down and CPU's by tradition always come down in price.
The ram is another animal as good ram remains costly and holds its own..but considering its importance..in how your system runs and operates...that is justified.
What makes pricing fluctuate?? Technology The way the industry just flies by with so many updated offerings..who can possibly keep up? That is why it is very important to look ahead and get HW that will be good to go in the near and distant future.
I have had my new sytem build for about a year and a half now and it still is top notch and will be for at least another year maybe..longer depending.
For those have the money to to build a second machine or two.. I am sure this solves alot of problems in this area.
Funny.. I get about 8700+ with a P4 2.8GHz CPU ,FX5900 VC, and real good low latency ram timed at low settings. It must be something else. Of course not being able to actually play with one ( this generation VC ) or see it first hand ,just leaves one with a feeling of either some jealousy or want.;)

I did what I was after. I got my 12's. Ill stop now but while I have the machine set up I am going to do 05. God I hate that bench.

BadDriver... Love your icon.. fits don't it?
Yeah, I like it. It is a one of a kind. :D
I actually came up with the name looking for a driver for my old scanner. It had a BadDriver for XP. Now it is just a handle and I found a cool avatar for it.
My wife thinks I am a bad driver :p. I like it, and not too many guys would ever use it as a name or avatar. The ego thing.
Not to worry, my ego died at about age 40.:x :t
