Midknyte.. How in the world can yu get the bus speeds to jump up 150...... I can believe the clock speed OK.
I could push my machine some more..but I think it just wouldn't be as stable. 5-10% OC is plenty for me...but I also only have a last generation VC. I have the 2.8 Northwood and sih today I could have gotten that one....as it is even lower in price then what I paid for mine originally.
14000 is an awefully good score. How much does the OC come into play? Maybe in games or other media of that type... things probably move faster and more fluid at higher resolutions.
;)
237 FSB is not that much. There are guys going way over 250. Some are closer to 300.
You need really good ram AND you'll probably need to increase the core voltage.
OCing the CPU doesn't do much for 3dmark, but it helps in other games. OCing the video card makes the most difference.
I keep my stuff at 400/1100 for day to day use. it's way fast enough. :D
Do you use the 6800GT VC? Mine does OK at around 400 and 800.
I agree..that the biggest differece is in the VC bus speeds..as sifting through all the tech. data and info..in the progress of better video properties, this is first..then it helps always to have a high end processor. It is really not that hard to follow or figure out and yes the Memory one has...is extremely important ,as it is the one thing that has to deal with all of this HW.
It is my opinion that if one has a high end machine to begin with...and all the other HW..including meemory and VC are top end..that for most ..it is not all that necessary to push it more ..other than for personal benchmarks or status...or just plain curiousity.
I am sure, upon personal reflection, that if I had what you and some here have in the very latest HW out threre,I myself would do the same.. ;)
I'm running a PNY 6800GT with EVGA copper heatsink.
You lucky devil.... that is the card i want. problem is..I am in some personal debt and $400.00 is more than I can afford.
More than likely ,I will be able to get it this year sometime...:x ;)

Will see about oc'ing video card a little more(at like 509core/1024memory atm) and restarting comp(been on for hrs) and see what I get.
Oc'd, restarted, and using 76.41 drivers now instead of 76.10.
Got 8255 this time in 3dmark03.
Oc'd at 524core/1051memory now.
I am going to get in trouble for this :(Quote:

Well, I need a 64 bit processor. Not bad, but it could be better. 76.44 drivers.

I managed to get 11844 by bumping the core to ultra but it wasn't worth the snap and the upload to post it.
SP2 has knocked me down quite a few points. I might have to reinstall windows. :p
I understand how you or others always want to get a higher score,or wahtever, but that is a sreal good score also.. Are you not happy enough with that ro is it just one of those status things..like who can get the highest score??
From what I heard some drivers for Nvidia cards may produce a higher score..but also each has its own idosycricities about other things which may suffer.
Motherboard, memory type and timings, and bus speeds play an important part, and maybe teh 64 CPU 's do hold a key. Who knows.
If you have the time and money to invest..just to give something a .05% increase then go to it.., but I just don't see the point.
From yur post Badriver...you had the ram timings at 200,and I think yu could up those some, and that would help..as might OC just a tad...like 5 or 10 % for the CPU.
Still its a real decent score..nonetheless.
;)
