XP doesn't have the same installation configuration as Vista to allow it to dual boot does it?
Shudder,
I'm now in a boot up loop with Partition Magic 8.0. Presumably due to using it in XP compatability mode, when Vista just plain doesn't like the program.
I'm tryin to find the file called xmnt2002.exe as that seems to be the program that's looped to run before Vista starts. I found the batch file and autoexec in the command prommpt via the Vista CD, but it seems this file can't be found. I can't even access the Window or Program Files folder anyway.
Any suggestions?
Hi there, have you resolved your problem?
I gather that you already have Vista only running on your computer, and you're trying to add XP to that computer in a dual-boot setup, am I right?
I simply reformatted and stuck XP back on until Vista becomes more mature. :)
Off-topic, I was born in Singapore! w00t. :p
I was wondering how one should go about putting XP back in if Vista is the native OS of a computer.
Or if when dual-booting these two OSes, must one have XP first, then install Vista on top of XP for it to be possible?
I went from just vista to vista + XP well; XP nuked my vista's bootfile with a boot.ini (pointing to the XP) so it couldn't boot vista separately at all, but I just editted the boot.ini with the location of vista and it's dual booting hunky-dorey.
I gave up in the end. Couldn't figure out a way after a few days of searching on various forums.Quote:

That's what I did although I am getting close to removing XP as my wife is pretty comfortable with Vista now. :t

But of course. :)Quote:
