Hi every one. My hard drive is starting to make a mechanical noise so I want to copy my drive over to a new drive please can some one help me with this as I am not to sure how to go about it.

Did you run diagnostics on the drive? If there are bad sectors, you might not be able to clone/image the drive over.
What is the make/model of the drive? Seagate and WD have free imaging software.
Hi Midknyte, yes I did all seems OK apart from the whining noise coming from the drive. Not sure of the make of the drive, will have a look in the mourning. Thank you so much for your help.

What is the make/model of your replacement drive? As long as one drive is a Seagate or WD, you can use their software.
Seagate bought out the Samsung HD division, so their DiscWizard software might work. It's actually Acronis TrueImage.

Of course, you could also buy Acronis TrueImage. That's the software I use for my own systems.
