Can someone tell me how to gain root access in mandrade 9.1
you are always ROOT, unless you used another user
just login as Root
or if you are already logged in, then login as SuperUser
:t
At the logon screen enter root as the user name and then enter the password you assigned to root during the install.
Iam trying to get into the netconf, but every time it gives me a message "yiu must be root to access linux conf. ?I tried all the above sugestion with no luck
stick with windoze. )-|
Is this through the command promp?. If it is type su to switch user and at the password prompt type the root password..Quote:

mireland, Yes I did it through the command prompt but wont work. But if I access a control panel, I will tell me I must be root and it will give me a password box. I type in my password and it works fine, Just not with netconf. It just gives me the "you must be root to access netconf" error.
Then logon as root and edit it.
Open up the terminal-> type "su"(which means superuser not switch user btw)->type in your root password-> type netconf and do what you need to do.
Thanks Jay, Thats what I was looking for,
But unfortunatly I got an error that said it couldnt open it.

might be easier if you re-install Linux on top again

Unless there's a package it needs installed in order to run.
