When i mirrored systempartition-winxp to partition D(ghost used) i have seen that certain cleaning-tools are also changing data there.
So i decided to writeprotect and hide this backup-systempartion until next backup.
Was this wise?

As long as the main system doesn't die and you don't need access to the image files;)
no need to write protect the image
just hiding the partition is good enough
1. hidden-status disappeared
maybe due to my mistake. dont know what went wrong.
2. cleanup tried to "work" on that partition and stopped working.
then i checked and it was unhidden without my doing.
3. then instead of cleanup i tried using TFC multiple times, also after doing fresh defragmentation-perfectdisk uses. TFC is still blocked. earlier scan was always very quick.
should i remove all tfc-entries in registry? what can be done to reactivate TFC?
4. systempartition is now 27gb, 17gb used.
maybe its a good idea to add an image-file on an external drive.
on internal drive backup lasted 27 min. the external usb-drive would have to work multiple times of this.
TFC [temp file cleaner] does not put anything into the regs. Download a new copy and see if it runs.
I usually back up a image file to 2 hdds. USB and internal have worked.
Take a look in Task manager and see what all is running. Might even close a bunch out, then see if TFC will run.
1, is having a system-partion-backup-second partition-a bad idea.
i once had all options. second partition and images(internal and external)
2. copying image from internal to external drive is not possible, right?
just ghosting it will work?
1. Not a bad Idea at all.
2. You can copy/paste a image anywhere you want to.
3. A clone can not be copied and pasted.
1. Can i copy my data-partitions as folders to an external drive?
2. all the mess came when i started full program of malware-cleaning.
malwarebytes and adaware together are blocking the system.adaware toolbar is still active. can/should i leave?
MS Security essentials of course is still installed.
some say beside MSSE antivirus is obsolete or not good.
will now run onlinescanners. hope kasperskys is now ready.
You can make folder and copy/ paste all the into it. Or make a Image file and place it where you want to.
Actually, MSE shut it down and replaced it with something better.Quote:

As long as the name Microsoft is attached to anything, there are a number of folks who will automatically hate itQuote:

ESET online scanner is a well recommended and I agree with that .

MSE has worked for me these last 2 or 3 years.
1. adaware toolbar now active despite removing Adaware itself. Should i remove it.
2. system is now running properly, m security essentials still installed.
Eset seems to be a cool paid universal solution.
3. Have found a quite complicted solution to clean systempartition. chksk cannot repair and ghost does not work the standard way.
will now use a clean system-partition-drive to start ghost-procedure with additional backup-drive. should work.
Eset is a good paid for AV program. And their online is tops in my opinion.
