If your Snapscan is a 310 with a parallel port you can forget about using it with windows XP. If it is a SCSI then your in luck, just download the drivers here : http://www.agfa.com/digicam_scanner_drivers/softpack/scanners/PC/ScanWise/310S_V1401.EXE
The problem is that AGFA have discontinued their scanner production for home users and support ended before the release of WIN XP
Si vuestro Snapscan 310 es de puerto paralelo, lo siento mucho pero olvidaos de usarlo con windows XP. Por el contrario, es SCSI, est is de suerte, aqui podeis bajar los drivers correspondientes.
El problema es que AGFA ya no fabrica esc ners dom sticos su servicio t cnico y de actualizaciones dej de existir antes de que saliera al mercado WIN XP

The Agfa Snapsan 310 does work fine in Win 2000!
However, initially having installed the Agfa software (FotoLook 2.9.04) you will get the message 'Scanner Not Found' when you start the software.
Go to Device Manager and DISABLE Agfa Snapscan and thereafter it will work fine - at least it has for me for the past two years. Presumably this is some sort of dialogue bug since the scanner works flawlessly despite being 'disabled'.

I have this scanner for a long time now (SCSI version). I never had a problem with it. It's an excellent value, even if you can find better scanners now.
Good resolution, quiet and fast.
I've never planned to change it, because it's still doing his job!

Works perfectly with the beta-driver from Agfa. I've used this driver v1.4 with Win2k and WinXP. Works 100%. And the scanner is fast (SCSI)! No wonder why they called it SnapScan.

Scanner useless. I bought it 4 years ago and used it twice. after that it would not work on the original program. I downloaded another program from the internet which enabled the scanner to work but much too slow.

Here's how I found it. C' tait pas vident:
I registered as a user on the AGFA site and found this information about drivers under XP

There are 2 SnapScan 310 types: 310 S (SCSI) and 310p (parallel port)
The 310p is one of the Agfa scanners that doesn't work under XP. There are however beta drivers for Windows 2000 on the support site. For this scanner, there will never be XP drivers in the future since as of September 2001 Agfa is no longer in the desktop scanner and digital camera business. If you are running Windows XP and want to use your SnapScan 310p, you can keep Windows 98 or 2000 on a different partition and install the drivers on that partition.
For 310 scsi, the ScanWise 1.4.0.1 beta drivers work also on XP.
Go to http://support.agfa.com. Choose Scanners in the Product Category pop-up, choose your scanner type (1212p) in the Product Name pop-up. On next page select the floppy-icon (free software). Select the driver you need. You don't have to register.
If you have problems downloading, try to download from another location. (You can choose between AGFA US Site1, AGFA US Site2, and AGFA Europe)

The SnapScan310 was probably the best for that pricerange.
By now it is still very good but lacks the functions of modern day scanners.
It does work under W2K and WinXP!
Just install Photolook and you're able to scan.
Backdraw is that Windows keeps warning you that new hardware is found everytime you boot.

Is anybody able to run this scanner with win2k? Perhaps I'm just too stupid but after upgrading even with the Agfa win2k driver the scanner is not found by any of my programs... *grmml* It's a SnapScan 310 (parallel).
The good news: Never had any problems with that scanner and Win98...

Apart from the very annoying fact that recently it has been crashing when I attempt to either preview or scan I get the message 'failed preview' or 'failed Scan" it has been a very good machine, and as I said, apart from the above annoying drawback I have no other complaints.

The driver supply from AGFA is poor. If you upgrade to Windows 2000 or Windows XP - bye bye SnapScan. They have a so called "Beta Driver Program" where one can find a driver for Win 2000, but I didnt get that to work. So i'm having an extra Win98 partition for my Scanner and be sure ill never buy an AGFA Scanner again.

Mine was dreadful!
It came with the EPPSCSI Minport driver instead of an interface card.
It constantly reported errors like:
"Image transfer has failed T037"
I had it replaced twice by AGFA, but to no avail, so in the end they upgraded it for me to a snapscan 1212p, which is superb.

Great software, low price and decent scans. Sadly the ISA SCSI host adapter that came with it broke down after a wekk. I eneded up Buying a PCI Adaptec SCSI Parallel port adapter card that has been doing not only better but faster as well.
If you are looking for just scanning some stuff for the web and want to save money for the real things in life.....buy it.
