I've been running one of these for a couple of years now with virtually no problems. Have used it with Adaptec, Cdrwin, Fireburner software, expensive and generic media and can honestly say that the coasters I've created have been either my own fault or bad media. Sure, I'd like a faster unit, but I'll wait until I run this one into the ground......

I have had the Acer for over a year now , It works very well and If you team it up with the correct ver of adaptec software [ 4.0 only !] You will be the owner of a very consistant copier. Slow and steady wins the race

I've had this for about a year and it has been 100% reliable for data & music. The music cd's will play on any cd player I've tried. It's slow, (2x/2x/4x)but for $100 after rebate, It's a steal!

I would give it a '4' (basically a nice drive), but all DAO audio CDs are coasters. A lot of people seem to have this problem. Acer 'support' (ha) never replied to any of my mails.

For the price I got this drive (100USD after rebate), I'd say it's the best-valued component in my most recent system. I haven't had any problems burning ISOs. Have had a few errors with burning audio; all save one of those I can trace back to software problems. If you can find it for less than 150 bucks, I recommend it.

Do not, and I repeat - Do not try to burn audio CDs with this drive. When I tried to tranfer a vinyl I got into a nice and shiny CD, I burnet it as DAO. My portable player, the Philips ESP-12 refuses to play it no matter what, and my home player, Yamaha CDX-493 plays it, but it can't seek. IMO, this drive should only be used for data writing, and not audio.

I bought this drive a year ago and have absolutly no complaints, has never messed up on a cd except the time I tried using faulty software. Dissadvantages are it doesn't support cd text, and it only writes/rewrites at 2x. (35 min). Good low cost reliable drive.
