pc133 vs. ddr mem diff. on 3dmark2001se
just wondering what kind of performance difference i would see between a pc133 ram and the ddr 2100 mem...
will it effect the score drastically ???
my current setup is :
msi k7t turbo limited ed. w/ VIA k133a chipset
amd XP 1600+
740MB of pc133 ram
60 GB western dig. 7200 ata100
ati radeon 8500DV
SB audigy board
(no overclocking done)
would i see a big difference in score if i changed it up to the msi K266a pro w/ VIA K266a chipset and with the same cpu and 512MB ddr2100 ???
(no overclocking)

Looking at:-
http://www.sysopt.com/forum/showthre...5&pagenumber=5
The guy at the top of the page gets 8049, and I (2nd from top)
get 7295 - he has 512mb ddr I have 512mb PC133 CAS2, obviously the motherboard & chipset have something to do with it, but it gives you a rough idea.
What do you get at the moment?

you mean 2001se? (you typed 2002se)
I was using 2001 (not se), at 1024x768 without FSAA at 32bit everything hardware T&L etc.
Your scores seem very low - there is something wrong, what drivers are you using for the 8500DV? Mine is not the DV, but the drivers I am using are from the ATI website - beta drivers released at the end of January (There are now official drivers dated feb, but I am sticking with the Beta ones at the mo - I have had no probs)
I used to have a Radeon AIW (the original one) with 32Mb and even that got 2000+ at 1024x768 (I cannot remember exactly, but I benchmarked it before I put the new one in)
Also what OS do you have?I am using XP. Do you have the latest via 4 in1? Latest BIOS?

Your system is seriously messed up I used to have a Radeon VE(less than 1/4 the power of a 8500) and it could get 2500+ stock @ 1024*768*32 You should be in the 8000+ range. You must have some really screwed up drivers or other settings. Are you sure that antialiasing is turned off and that you are using hardware "True Hardware T&L" and not "Software T&L" in 3dmark? You should also check your bios and make sure that the AGP mode is set to "4X" and not "2X" or more likely "1X".
