WMI is missing or moved ??

I am using WinXP Pro and wanted to look at my IRQ lineup. I went into Start> Programs> Accessories> System Tools> System Information but on doing so I was greeted with this message :

    Can't collect information

Cannot access the windows management instrumentation software. Windows management files may be moved or missing.

Could someone please help me out. How do I find where it is or why its not functioning. Also is WMI important to the running of windows?

    Thank you

XP is based upon NT, which needs WMI to keep track of hardware changes. Have you tried doing a system restore on the computer to see if the problem goes away?

I'm one of those people who turn system restore off to help in performance. Anyother suggestions?

If you care about WMI, turn system restore back on and/or reinstall OS
