i850 or i845
I am getting ready to build an new computer, with gaming as the primary use of the computer, and work secondary . Anyway, my first choice was an Asus P4T-E which uses the i850 chipset. I heard that Rambus is on hard times, and could be going out of business. Is this rumor true? If so, do you think that the memory will still be available? Not that I expect the initial memory to go bad, but you never know.
What are some opinions on using a i845 chipset board such as the ASUS P4B 266 DDR board, and say a P4 2.0? Do you think there would be a noticable performance difference?
Thanks in advance.

If you're set on an Intel CPU, either one should be fine.
There are enough Rambus-based boards out there to assure availability despite what may or may not happen to Rambus. That said, you can always have your cake with a SiS 645-based board (I think that is what you meant). These are said to perform better than the Intel chipsets with DDR RAM.

I would go SiS 645 or i845.
