    windows xp pro

    i have just been given a copy of xp pro (not original), but i have been told that if u install a copied version and do not register it then after 30 days it will stop working ! is this true ?

    Depends...First of all, it's not the registration that'll get you, it's the ACTIVATION. If your copy is a retail version (as opposed to a corporate version) it will indeed quit after 30 days. If you try to activate it, you may find the software police at your door. My best advice would be to unclamp your wallet and buy your own before your 30 days is up.

    Howw many peeps are thick enough to pass round copied retail ver tho, if it is, there are guides on how to convert the disk to corp. I am obviously not going to post the link tho.

    ok, but how do i know if mines a str8 retail copy or not ? should my pc remind me to register/activate xp as i havent had anythin to say so yet ?

    I've sent u a mail.
    It should pop up every few hours and say to activate, you should also have an "Activate Windows" icon on the start menu. If not then it is probally Corp, try setting your date foward a month and see what happens. Make a DOS boot disk to set it back with if u need to tho.
