Help me out with this one!!!!

Do you necessarily need an Apple computer to use MAC OS X? Also, what's your take on MAC OS X? Does it stand up to XP or better. Reason for asking is I've been thinking about the two operating system and don't know which to choose. I'm kinda scared of XP right now because I know that there is gonna be some issues with it until some reliable patches come out. C'mon chime in and help a brotha out.

I'm pretty sure you need an Apple to use Mac OSX. But, Mac released Darwin for x86, but it doesn't have that really nice aqua GUI. . I think if you're thinking about OSX, you're thinkin about *nix (OSX is BSD based) and therefore you should go with Linux or any BSD.
This will all be over before you can say Cat in a Hat.

I have a HP Pavillion, so are you saying I can go with Linux? If so how do you rank it with Windows?
