    Windows 98SE Registry Problem

    Question:
Every few boots of my computer (about 6 or 7) a message comes up after my computer boots saying windows has found an error in the registry and willl reboot to fix it. Thats all fine and dandy until when it reboots again it takes me back to about 2 weeks ago (the last time it backed up the registry) when i reinstalled windows to try and fix the problem. Everytime this happens I have to install all the drivers for the computer and it gets annoying.. Can anyone help me?!

    Computer Specs:
    Pentium 2 MMX running @ 333MHZ
    6.2 GB harddrive
    91 MEgs of memory
    1 Cd rom drive
    1 Cd burner

if you have any questions about my computer i will be happy to answer them

Memory problems can cause weird registry problems at boot up. Is that cpu speed suppose to be 333Mhz?

Is that cpu overclocked? And do you have the correct settings for yor ram in BIOS? First, try choosing default settings in the BIOS. If this doesn't work, try underclocking your cpu. You may have to change a multiplier or fsb jumper on your mb.

But you should do scandisk.Otherwise there are no guaranties.
Also you can check any major virus scanner website like norton, macaffe, etc. for quick free small programs like specifically sscan for some of the more nasty and latest viruses without installing a whole virus suite.
Personally I never use norton anti-virus and it is a big hassle.
    Also visit http://www.tucows.com

Recently my daughter had a similar problem, registry corrupted! Installed the last known good registry. Booted Norton and walla W32vbscript.worm (or somethin like that). Good luck! JIFFYPROGASM
P.S also disable sripting in windows> internet options>security>custom.

Its better to scan the whole drive when it comes to a virus.
