    AMD 1.47 G MP

What the heck is an Athlon MP?

    I've built a system with a T-Bird 1.0 G and it was great.

I'm building another system and do not know what the MP designates.

Does anyone have any experience with this chip?

    Athlon MP

The MP was also made for notebooks as it has a special power saving feature. The Athlon XP is the same CPU core without the above feature. It's designed for desktop PC's with KILLER performance compared to the P4. A very serious gamer with killer video and high end monitor might consider the P4 if price is of no objective consideration because with RDRAM the high memory bandwidth performs well, especially for serious gamers, but an XP performs almost equally well for less money. However, in almost all other apps the Athlon XP smokes the P4.
