Something better than GameSpy?
Hi all,
I was wondering if someone could recommend a better program than Gamespy. It seems so bulky and tends to load krap I don't need.
Thanks

There used to be a far better game finder than gamespy, called PingTool.
Unfortunatly, it was bought out and closed down several months ago.
I do still use it, but it only works for a few games (Q2, Q3, HL/TFC/CS, SiN, and a couple others). Many games (like UT, and many newer games) have moved their master servers to addys that good ol' PingTool does not have access to, so it cannot get server lists.
If you are interested, I can supply an old version of pingtool, but as I said, it will not support many of the more recent games...

I remember when GSpy was a lot cooler - none of that ad ****e going on. I remember also when Planetquake was the only 'Planet' site I knew, and I didn't have to pay to get a 'good' download (from them).
/sigh
Seeing the way things are going now, tho, I guess I can take waiting for the ads in GSpy...Here's wishing for a perfect world, tho.

The All-seeing eye http://www.udpsoft.com/eye/
is a highly configurable and generally better Online gamefinder client than anything else at the market today. It supports a plethora of games and will almost always give better results than the ingame gamefinders and Gamespy.

All seeing eye is really good. It is said it lowers your ping a little bit because it takes up less resources than Gamespy.
