zone alarm
I recently saw this in a forum and since I use zone alarm want to find out if it's true. Where is the best place to find out about this? Thanks..
"Now for the interesting news! It seems a group of hackers have got together and released a product called ZONE ALARM, it is a firewall utility that actually works great. Just one problem, they have intentionally imbedded a TROJAN HORSE VIRUS in the program, while it's busy keeping everyone out it's also collecting ALL your personal information and secretly e-mailing it to its creators violating the very trust it's supposed to be keeping. Another thing about the program, if you do have it and try to remove it from your system, it will NOT allow you to remove all of its files and unlike other Trojans it has no self destruct code, it will not delete itself after a certain time period. The only way to get rid of it is to completely wipe and reformat your harddrive then completely reinstall all your programs.
Remember the programs name is "ZONE ALARM" STAY AWAY FROM IT!!!!!"

I am not sure where I read this, but, the article did suggest that zone alarm was very difficult to remove completely.
I also run zone alarm with NAV no problems to report.

The person that stated this has now retracted his statement, saying it turns out to be untrue, thank goodness. Thanks for the replies

Well...
"Now for the interesting news! It seems a group of hackers have got together and made a web site called SysOpt.com, it is a "technical help" web site that actually works great. Just one problem, they have intentionally imbedded a TROJAN HORSE VIRUS in the web page that actually is downloaded and installed to your PC when you visit the page. While you're busy helping other people or getting help, it's collecting ALL your personal information and secretly e-mailing it to its creators violating the very trust it's supposed to be keeping. Another thing about the web site, if you do visit it and try to stop visiting it, you will NOT be allowed to! You will ALWAYS have to visit the site! The only way to stop visiting it is to completely avoid the internet, stop using your PC, or take everything you see and hear with a grain of salt!!
Remember the sites name is "SysOpt" STAY AWAY FROM IT!!!!!"
Pretty easy!
