I just put together my first system, so I am new to most of this. When I checked the speed of my CPU, it says 1.05 ghz. but I bought a 1.4 ghz cpu. what am I missing? what can I do to make it faster? I have an ASUS MB, Thanks

I assume your 1.4 GHz Athlon is a 266 model (133X2). Is your fsb set to 133 MHz? Some m/b's have jumpers or a switch to set either 100 or 133 MHz. Once you have correct setting, your multiplier value should be set to 10.5 (X 133=1396 MHz).
If your Athlon is a 100MHzl, set your multiplier to 14 (X100=1400 MHz).
You can tell if your Athlon is 200 or 266 by letter in code: Athlon "B" is 200 MHz; Athlon "C" is 266 MHz.

Spec please.

Most probably your FSB is set to 100Mhz. Check it out and set it to 133Mhz.

Thanks for the explanation. I have a similar question.

I'm setting up a Leadtek 7350KDA and the default settings look like they could be 10.5. (see page)

I already set the jumper on the board to 133 MHz
Software comes with the board that supposedly changes the clock speed from the Windows desktop. Any experience with that?

Also, Should I leave the cpu switch at default or change to higher setting?
