    1 Year Performance Drop-off

    I ran 3dm 2000 in Jan '01 and acheived a v. satistfactory 5342.
The other day I was playing Unreal with all enhancements turned up (never been a problem before) and it was totally unplayable.

I then ran 3dm 2000 again (12/01) and acheived the ****-poor mark of 1816.

I have not added/changed any h/ware and I reinstalled the Nvidia driver for the GC - .649. All to no avail.

    The card is not clocked.

Is the card partially broken or chocking back somehow? All suggestions would be welcome.

    Apologies for the double post.

you should be re-installing your OS every so often. I heard a good idea was to get "Ghost", create a complete backup of your HDD (from a clean install), then you can quickly return your Puter to its original state.

There is a shareware floating around that will remove all detonator files that the uninstall process will not clean up. I can't think of the name of it right now and my lan is down where I keep that information.

Also, chipset drivers will effect performance, but you said you haven't changed anything.

It is a good idea to defragment your drive as well. I have not heard of a fragmented drive having such a high degree of loss, but if you been using it intensively for a year and not done a defrag, maybe...
