OMG THIS CANNOT BE TRUE??!!
I recently got 3dmark2000 and i used the default benchmark as i really dunno how to use the program. It went through these cool games which went smoothly but three tests as the end as apprently my hardware doesn't support it!. It came back with 1025 as my results, well after reading other ppls marks who get in the 5-10 thousand region, i felt a bit small! i dunno if its good for my system but here's the spec's:
Amd Athlon 750Mhz
ECS K7vza v1.0
Savage 4 32mb PCI
256mb RAM
20Gb
Hope you can help me, do i need another new system???

Well Savage 4 32MB PCI is not such a good performer. Results of AGP r much better but due to lack of bandwidth PCI card suffers a performance lost. There is no need for a new system(i have PII350 with SiS6326 4MB AGP) upgrade ur graphic card to GF 2or MX AGP

I am willing to bet that is a correct score. The savage being a pci card limits the trnsfer rate fo the information between the cpu and the video card. Also, savage is not known for making a card to compare to a ge-force 2 or 3.
If you have some money laying around, and your mobo does support agp cads look into buying maybe a ge-force 2ti. The offer 64 ddr memory and plenty of speed for around 110 i believe.
Hope i helped

is it really that simple? my graphic's card is letting me down?........i dunno if you have heard of it but my friend has a HERCULES PROPHET 4500 64MB which i have been looking at, is this any good? and also alot of ppl on this site have Ati Radeon, are they any good? either of those two i will gladly get!
Also im reading alot about overclocking cards? how do you do that, is it possible with mine?
Thanks for the help!

If you have 32MB of GPU RAM, then PCI transfer rate is not such affectable.
The truth is that your Savage 4 is a very weak GPU, which can't handle such graphics as in 3DMark2001 smoothly.

If I'm not mistaken, the Savage 4 chipset isn't even really a GPU.
The only real GPU's being produced at the moment are Geforces and Radeons.
The 1st real GPU was a GF256 remember??
And somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but one of the major things that makes a graphics chipset a GPU, is that it has hardware T&L onboard, so therefor the KyroII isn't a GPU either, but only the Radeons and Geforces.

hhhmmm im looking into the ati radeons at the momment but which is best to get??, or the g-forces?? but apprently looking at customer product review the hercules is a very good card indeed!

Linkin Park-
The best gpu maker in my mind is nvidia (over ati). There are many companies that produce different variations of say the ge-froce 3 ti200. But nvidia was the original degner and those companies have to meet certain requirements when building there cards.
My personal card is a PNY Ge-Force 3 ti200. Absolutely love it. Have it overclocked from stock 200/400 to 230/450. Comes with 4ns ram and a great great card for under 175.00.

There not to bad. The best deal going os on most of the ti200's. A ge-force 2 ti (old architechture) goes for 110-150. Places like newegg.com sell the ti200 FROM PNY for 169.00 with shipping. IMO its worth it.
Keep me updated

The way I see it is if your card plays the games you like then don't upgrade just yet, save your money till you have enough to buy a newer card, and don't fall into the benchmark trap or you'll never be happy with your system, well maybe for a month or so, but generally this technology malarky can be very expensive if you want to compare with others.

ABIT SILURO T400 GEFORCE2 MX 64MBTV for J57 or
NVIDIA GEFORCE 2 MX-400 64MB AGP for J52 or
LEADTEK WINFAST GEFORCE 2 Ti 64MB for J89, but the last are more expensive and out of stock for now ( ).
Another 'One Step Closer' ??? Huh ???

And, about GPU. Yes, only GeForce and Radeon may me named so.
But I use the GPU (graphics processing unit) as the synonym of the longer 'graphics card' or 'video card' meanings, because the GPU (graphics processing unit) meaning itself descripts video cards very exactly.
So, don't blame me about it.

Linkin' - Aria are a rip-off! Check out www.scan.co.uk
They've got the ASUS V8200 PURE, which is a GeForce 3 ti200 for £152 + VAT - with delivery and VAT it comes to less than ARia is charging for the GeForce 2 ti.
DEfinitely the video card by a LONG stretch... not familliar with that MOBO, does it have an AGP 4x slot (AGP 2x will also do and it won't be much slower at all, as long as it has an AGP slot!).
laters,
