I thought Operation Flashpoint was supposed to be good??¿

At a lan 2 weeks ago a friend came in and got us all excited because he had purchased operation flashpoint. As we all waited to see this supposedly "awesome game" to install on his slow computer we became extremely excited. Then finally the game was installed and he ran it... only to our surprise, this was the most absolute disgusting looking game i have ever played... reminded me of looking at Duke Nukem 3d. Now he was running a p2 500, Kyro4000 vid card, 256 sd ram, and it was just nasty. So we tried it on another machine that was running a GeForce3, 1.4 tbird, 256 crucial ddr ram, and the game was just as bad, so we tried it on a 1.3 tbird, Voodoo5 5500, 128 ddr (my machine ) and it was still horrid, and then we tried it on a 1.2 P4, Gf2, 128 ram, and once again... nasty. We tried to play a little with the graphics being so nasty, and the gameplay was not good enough to make up for the lack of graphics. Is there something that we were missing in this game?, because 18 people all agreed that it was the lamest game we've played in a while and was definately a waste of 40 dollars (u.s.)

    FlasPoint RULZ

I agree with you mr. hood, the graphics are a discarse to modern games. Its like the company took 2 hudge steps back in their engine technology, and 3 large heaps backwords in their game play qualities, with that said, i would just like to say that commander keen rulz all..nuff said

The graphics quality is poor cause of the huge landscapes which have to be rendered everytime u play a mission.

I must realy disagree with u on the part of game play, cause its probably the only game so far that realy mimics the feel of the battle. Whether u play as a grant or a commander of a tank platoon its all so real. And the huge landscapes make it even more realistic. Also the compaign is not liniar at all and is full of suprises.
    I loved that game

most reviews on the game comment harshly about the graphics, but the gameplay still isn't that bad.

i say that everyone here would love that game if graphik were better

i have to agree the gameplay make this game really awsum, i loved the idea of beiing a squad getting outnumbered by tanks and being able to ride a tank a jepp etc..

lets make a mod of tribes 2 like that

the graphik part would be there

Hey, why don't you get specific? It's not useful to say "I just don't like it", why don't you tell us what you don't like about it? Maybe there's little bits that you do like about it? Please elaborate!

I really like Operation Flashpoint. I played it with 3 others and loved the challenge of it. The missions can be HARD! It was suprisingly cool to fly the attack helicopter, too. My favorite part is multiplayer teamplay & just surviving. We found that we needed to strategically plan out our missions, everyone doing their specialty (like rocketing, sniping, etc.) or else we wouldn't win the battles. Also, I like what happens when you die in multiplayer mode. You turn into a seagull that you can fully control (although challenging at first)! I only wish we could make it fire it's weapon (if you know what I mean) - then it would be a true simulation. hehe...

But I have to admit, the graphics threw me off, too. I kept thinking "This is a new game? Maybe this is the first and they just released the second?" But hey, after playing a little while, you forget all about it. If you don't concentrate on gameplay, you die real quick.

I can't wait for the second one to come out. I'm sure they'll fix the graphics and expand on the already-great gameplay.
