    Question on sound card

    Hi

I am thinking of buying the Altec Lansing ACS54X 5-Piece 3D gaming system from direct-ron. Now my question is i have onboard sound. (this is strait from my mobo mauel)

    supports Microsoft DIRECTSound/DirectSound3D
AC'97 supported with full duplex, independent sample rate converter for audio recording and playback

Thats all my mobo manuel says

Will the new speakers be ok with this onboard sound.
Also if someone could tell me what my sound thing is named it would help. My mobo is An AK75-EC rev a www.dfi.com
    if that helps.

    Thanks

I don't think the onboard sound will support a 5 piece system.

Next check if your 5 piece speakers, if they are digital speakers or analog.

Than get a sound card suitable for your speakers.

the first thing to do is take a look at the back of your mobo and SEE if you have the right connectors for the speaker system you want to buy.

Second, what you actually have is a software codec installed in your motherboard's southbridge to enable your CPU to do sound processing. You really should look into getting yourself a proper sound card to offload the processing from your CPU.
