    SLOW GF3 plz help!

Well I am aware of the via and gf3 problems. My system is
1.391 ghz athlon @214 mhz fsb
    fic az11e via kt-133
    386mb sdram
    seagate 7200rpm hd
    sb live!
    gainward gf3 ti200/450 @ 230/540
    win xp pro
tried det 22.80 and det 23.11
tried 64 mb and 128 mb agp aperture
    clean install as well
The problem, d3d games lag bad like giants and ut. Ut @ 1280x1024 x32 bpp gets about 70 fps average, but usually falls as low as 25 fps when fighting. I hear pple don't ever fall below 80fps at that res with gf3. Giants @ 1280x1024 32bpp only gets a 40 fps average. RTCW and MOHAA run alrite since they are ogl. I heard people had problems but i tried everything! plz help out.

I use 256Mb aperture setting and the 21.88 drivers and games work great. The 23.11 drivers are very slow and sluggish.

i'm maxed at 128 mb, and i already tried 21.83 already. I'm gonna go back to 12.41 and i also heard that the problem is related to via and gefroce 3 chips but only in win98/me, but i have winxp pro.

How high is your FSB??! Perhaps this is leading to instability with your AGP bus?

Actually my gainward doesn't like any fsb oc at all, so it is at default 200 mhz for my athlon.

I just got a Gainward Geforce 3 Ti 200. I have an MSI K7T266 Pro Motherboard and a AthlonXP 1500+. I formated and installed the Via 4 in 1's, DX 8.1 and Detonator 23.11's. My system is running very stable. I get 140+ FPS in UT with all eye candy on, 32 bit. I tried the 22.50 dets but they were kind of stuttering in games. I installed the 23.11 dets and all was fine. I think it is machine specific. Good luck, jam

I agree. It depends on the chipset, but I haven't liked nVidia lately anyway. Their geforce 2 cards (not all, but many) had serious compatibility issues w/ direct3d, esp. Unreal Tourney. The only fix I was able to find (as well as alot of peeps I know) was to use (ughhhh!) software rendering. I'm not sure if gf3 has these same issues... That's why I chose the Radeon, and man it rocks! I get 140 fps in Unreal on Athlon XP, 512 ddr ram.

    Hope that helps.

Jimstep, Are you saying the 23.11 are slower? I did not know that, do you think that the 21.88 driver is faster/better?

I think it may be the chipset as well, the kt-133. I heard of via n gf3 problems but only in win 98/me not xp. Acutally, i have both a radeon le @ radeon ddr speeds, geforce 2 gts32 mb ddr, and now a gf3 ti200 @ ti500 speeds and all of them suck at ut period. Now my geforce 3 sucks when compared to all the other geforce 3's in most d3d games. This is bull, i need a new board.

I was having some problems with my geForce2 Ti also. I found this to work for me. Try going into your system BIOS and disabling or turn off the AGP Fast Write. Good Luck!

My mobo doesn't seem to have a fastwrites option. The closest one seems to be agp ws write and agp ws read and i have tested that already. My fastwrites is not supported (disabled by vid card bios) according to wcpuid.
