Creative DVD 12X - DVD crashes with DMA
Does the Creative DVD 12x actually support DMA?? I ask because CD rom access seems to be okay with it enabled, but the only DVD that doesnt crash with DMA enabled is The Matrix... any ideas??

Evil Lurks
From my experience with Creative drives, they can be quite "picky" sometimes. While some work just fine with DMA enabled, others simply crash for unknown reason (as with your case).
I'd suggest you install latest VIA 4in1 pack in case you're using mobo with VIA chipset, or simply disable DMA if it doesn't help much.
Best Regards ...

The VIA drivers make all the difference in the world. Try the new 4.37a version.

I'm jusing using a 6x Toshiba, but on the DMA question mine WON'T enable. But it does fine without it...including the Matrix! So just try running the DMA disabled.

Without DMA enabled, everything but the matrix was horrendously jerky, with DMA, everything but the matrix crashed, the new 4 in 1 drivers have solved my problem, all DVD's run fine under DMA and extremely smoothly
