3dMark2001 and WinXP
Alright, after upgraded from ME to XP I can't get 3dMark2001 to work correctly. All of a sudden the graphics are EXTREMELY boxy and the colors are all wrong. Could this be an incompatiblity with XP's drivers and the Voodoo 4 4500?? I tried to d/l the latest 3rd party drivers but that didn't help??
Any quick fixes because I'm awaiting a GF3 T5 card??

I had some of the same problems with my V5 5500 when I upgraded to WinXP. It seems to be a problem with the WinXP drivers, but I could be wrong. I upgraded to some 3rd party drivers (if I can find where I got 'em I'll send 'em to you) but it still didn't run well with WinXP I think it's just a problem with the 3dfx cards and XP. If you're buying a GF3, I wouldn't worry about it. Just wait til you get a new card. I worked on mine for a couple weeks trying to get it to work and it's really not worth it, which is why I upgraded to a GF3
If you can afford a GF3, buy it and use your Voodoo for an extra win98 or 2000 system, or just sell it.

JRB,
Thanks for your response. M$ came out with 3dfx drivers for the VooDoo 4 4500 the other day and ti actually recognizes that it's a 4500 and not a 4000, and it works now.
Problem is, now my scores droped by about 500pts!!!!
I was at 1777, now I'm at 1138!
I can't win!
Where is my GF3??? I ordered it on 12 Dec.

I had trouble even getting 3dmark2001 to run on winxp pro. it seems to be coming up with a vc++ error trap - then terminates.
this is odd as 3dmark2000 runs fine :-)

Maybe someone can tell me why this is happening when I try to run 3DMark?
It installs fine, but when I try to run the program, it says "3DMark2001 requires a DirectX 8 compatible accelerator. We recommend that you upgrade your computer or test your PC with an older version of 3DMark."
Here are the basics:
Win XP
Abit KR7A
XP 1800+
512MB PC2700
Gainward GF3 Ti200 Golden Sample
(nVidia's 23.11 drivers)
60GB IBM 60GXP
I know DX8 is installed, but I don't know what the problem is.
I've about decided to d/l again and see if the file is corrupt.
What's your thoughts?
