    !NEW! THERMAL COMPOUND

I've finally come up with a copper based thermal compound that seems to work extremely well! I was having problems with the compound liquifying causing a potential risk of shorting out the processor. However, I have found a way to heat and extract the "liquid" from it and mix it with a conventional silicon compound.

I am not sure the exact results because I don't think my temp. readings are right. They range anywhere from 60C to 95C - so I know something is wrong...

However, I can sqeeze an extra 26Mhz out of my processor that I could never even dream of before.

    Celeron 850 @ 1147 (silver based compound)
    - wouldn't make it past splash screen at higher speeds

    Celeron 850 @ 1173 (new copper compound)
    - stable through 3DMark 2001

Anyways, I am out right now, but I will be making more soon if anyone is interested in trying it...

Heh that's really cool- I've never heard of anyone making their OWN thermal compound before. If you don't mind my asking... how exactly do you go about making your own thermal compound? Is it a difficult process or relatively simple?

I don't really suggest doing it. I have made a LOT of homemade things in the past and ruined a few processors and motherboards in the process. However, the compound I'm using now seems to work great and can withstand temps of over 900 degrees. Let me know if you'd like to try a little - I could send some to you if you want...

Just wondering how far you'd have to ship it if I wanted to try some, that's all.
