IE5 status bar
If I check "status bar" on the Internet Explorer 5 "view menu", IE5 always opens with the status bar visible. But if I then choose "open new window" or "CTRL + N", the resulting window never displays the status bar until I re-select it from the "view menu".
Is there any way that I can make all new IE5 windows open with the status bar automatically displayed?
Thanks,
Fingers

I ran into this problem long ago with IE5, but since I haven't been choosing "updates" for anything, it doesn't happen now. Do you have the Power Tweaks for IE5 installed? At the time, I suspected this update of causing it.

I haven't use the Power Tweaks, but I do have most of the security updates installed.
I've got another machine with IE5, and it works properly. I'll check if they both have the same updates installed.

Make sure your registry has these entries, but in my case, it had no effect.
[HKEY_USERS\.Default\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
"Show_ToolBar"="yes"
"Show_URLToolBar"="yes"
"Show_StatusBar"="yes"
"Show_URLinStatusBar"="yes"
"FullScreen"="no"

Thanks for the help BFlurie, but it didn't work for me either.
I thought maybe IE 5.01 SP-1 would resolve the issue. After about an hour and a half of download and install time; guess what... I've still got the same problem. There has to be something simple here that I'm missing.
This PC won't display "mouse trails" either and I think this is an issue with the VIA chipset. My other PC is on an Intel "Seattle" mobo with the BX chipset; mouse trail and IE5 work fine on it. Maybe it's the Via 133A chipset?
