    I think...

    that I have got the wrong end of the stick!! I thought there was a way of just getting a score for your system, I've looked again and again, and I assume that you can only do a bench mark for each individual component

    3DMark2000/2001 gives you overall score, focusing especially on videocard/CPU/RAM, which can be compared to similar machines from different users.
