    Monitor Troubles

    I am having a dilema, when I go to boot my pc, I get a black screen with flashing gray boxes. I tried the cables, I tried rebooting several times, it seems like a monitor self test. Is my monitor shot, or is it my video card, I have not tried another monitor yet, I don't have one handy I will do that tomorrow, I just wanted to get some input in the meantime. Thanks

    I have never seen a monitor with some kinda self test deal like what you have discribed. I 'think' a monitor can only display what is sent to it by the video card. Try another video card if one is available first. If that dosn't fix it, it may be the monitor giving up the ghost.
