WinXP Pro- Won't install AIM or ICQ

Other stuff installs, Castle Wolfenstein, drivers, MIRC, Limewire. If I try to install either of these I get CRC errors and I/O Errors. Ran scandisk, ran my HD utility, changed IDE cables. Any other ideas? I'm going to format and try it again here in a bit. I'm pretty much out of ideas. When I upgraded to WinXP from Win2000, the programs were already loaded, and although slow, they still worked ok. Let me know what you think. It's an Athlon 1.4 on an Abit KG7-R with R disabled. Got a MSI GF2 Pro Vid card, 256mb DDR, Max 60gb 5400 HDD.

Not using AIM, but new version of ICQ is out there, 4.70, works well with XP.

    Best Regards ...
