Will it work??? -USB/PS2 to serial adaptors with optical mice + wheel

Hi, i would be greatful if somebody has any experience with serial mouse adaptors. Would an optical USB mouse work with one of these??

failing that, will the wheel on a standard microsoft mouse work if it has a serial adaptor on it (converting it form ps2 to serial)

From my experience using adapters, the USB>PS/2>serial setup probably won't work. The second one you listed (PS/2>serial) may work. It's a hit or miss situation. The last time I tried a PS/2 to serial adapter it wouldn't work. If you really want to use a Optical USB mouse, you can get a USB add in card that goes into an empty PCI slot like the ones available at Tiger Direct.

aha, i had no idea USB pci cards existed and this sounds like just what i'm after cheers!
