Anyone had any experience with Acer burners ?

Picked up a bargain, with an Acer 40/16/10 burner, bundled with Nero.

Curious to know if anyone's familiar with these burners ...........

Anyway, it's got to be faster than my old HP 24/2/2.

I believe that th HP was a 2x2x24 and the Acer is a 16x10x40?? If I am correct I can tell you that after switching my old "Smart and Friendly" 2x2x24 burner in for a 16x10x40 Lite On Burn Proof cd burner well it makes a 45-50min project turn into a 3-7min project depending on size.. great for making small backup disks takes about 30sec-1min.

I been using an Acer 6x4x32 for about a year now without any probs. It takes about 12 to 15 minutes to burn a full CD. Your 16x10x40 should be very fast.

I have an ACER USB port CD writer I got at Best Buy for $90. Its a bit slow with a 4X writing speed but excellent in all respects. Its external, and looks very sturdy and nice.

Takes around 25 minutes to do a CD but I don't need to watch the screen while it does it's thing. Haven't had a problem with it yet.

Best part it its a USB device and I can still put in 4 drives without putting in an extra card.

RayH ??????????? Since when are there 40x burners ???

My Acer is 40 read, 16 write, 10 re-write. (as others pointed out).

Anyway, I was just enquiring as to the general reliability of Acer burners. I can do the math. I know how much quicker 16x is compared to my old 2x.
