CAN'T FIND A JOB!!!!!!!

sigh.
Why is it so hard to find a DECENT entry-level computer job.
i give up on finding one with a good learning atmosphere, i'd be happy workin at radioshack (what with their 2 compaqs per store now).
i plan on taking my a+ whenever i get the money to pay for it, BUT, the kick in the *** is the fact that i need a job in order to get the money.
i guess this post is basically a plead for any and all suggestions on what i should do and how i should go about doing it.
i've tried every computer store within a reasonable difference from me and they all give me this a+ bull**** when half of the people workin the registers only don't even know what cpu stands for.

should i rob a bank for the $130 A+ test?
should i work a bull**** job just to pay for the test?
should i cut out the middle man and do a pathetic google/yahoo search that says......."hey! i'm this close to gettin' my a+! wanna give me a chance anyways!?!?"

p.s. i live in chicago
Compaq USA, GatewayLand, and Best Buy can all blow me.

The job market is at an all time low. Many very experianced, well educated people are out of work. The IT industry is one of the worst hit areas. Now is not a good time to be looking for a job in this industry. But that being said, see if there are any "general" help desk/support companies in your area. Theres a company down the street form me with several hundred employees. They do support for many different ISP's and other corporation that farm out support.

ps. I've been unemployed for nine weeks now. Its tough out there.

Actually you’re not alone. This is currently a phenomenon to be seen in many countries do to the global economic recession.

Many of my friends study in London, a number of them have just graduated in electrical and mechanical engineering as well as aeronautical engineering, all of them are going to continue studying (MA & PHD) because they can't find jobs.

This is sad to too see. It took me almost five months to find a new job. Wounded up take a project management position where as I used to do developement. I suppose I'm one of the lucky ones to find a job at all.

Anyway, as a start, get your resume together and start posting it at these sites. It couldn't hurt.

Hey, if your main goal right now is to get the cash for your A+ exam, then it wouldn't take you long to earn that flippin' burgers!

Most bosses would like to hire someone who's proven they can hold a job (however heinous it might be) over the chronically unemployed, anyway.

I wonder what they're doing out in Silicon Valley which has been pushing for increased quota to import and hire foreign nationals?
Do to "shortage" in domestic labor pool. I think they got an increase some while ago.**

Rents in San Jose went probably higher than Chicago..but the weather is nicer,IMO.

I think the box-tossing pays $22 per hour plus benefits.**..A+ at FRY'S gave me lower figure for A+'s.
Hey, but money don't buy happiness.
I believe everybody should reinvent their jobs every few years .

I don't know, Rob! Well we could all join the military. At least that's what I'm doing. I'm gonna join up in the navy as soon as I lose 20lbs. (They told me I was too fat....coming from a recruiter 50lbs heavier and 3 inches shorter than me!) Anyway, as smart as many of us are, a good MOS shouldn't be hard to get. I can get into Nuclear, IT, Electronics and just about anything else I want. I know its too late to do this for some of you, but for those of us who are smart and don't have a lot of experience, this is a place to go and get experience and learning - while being payed! Anyway, I've been jobless since May - it has SUCKED! Ths is what I am doing, I hope you all find what you are looking for.

Lol...I was at the join the military point about 16 years ago...so I did, went Nuclear...all I can say is don't go Nuclear. It sucks! You learn a whole lot of stuff most people will never even hear of...but, you are over worked, under paid and will be mentally twisted if they ever stick you on a sub...which they will try to do desperately.

I think the go ET or ADP is the best things the Navy can offer.

I worked at a joint USAF/Navy command, and all our computers were maintained by the Navy ET's (Electronics Technicians?). I must admit they knew their stuff.

And if I recall correctly, they also got all the different civilian sector training materials for the various certs for free, and possibly even the tests themselves. I can't speak for my fellow USAF counterparts, as I've never had to deal with them. I know the network admins are pretty good.

Either way, it's a good option, and you'd get the opportunity to serve your country when it really needs you!
