Thread: My monitor is "Shaking" when i look at high res full screen pics......

    My monitor is "Shaking" when i look at high res full screen pics......

    What is cuasing this?? It looks like the monitor is on a paintmixer but it goes on and off the monitor is a 17inch MGC and is about 2 1/2 years old.

    sounds like the refresh rate might be set to low

    What resoultion and refresh rate are you using?

    i would love to tell you but i forgot how find the setting!!
    edit: found it
    my resolution is 1024x768
    and my refresh is set to optimal what ever that is.....
    what is a good refresh rate?

    I would suggest 85Hz+ is a good refresh rate, however you must check what your monitor supports (manual or online) because setting the refresh rate to high can fry the monitor

    i just checked my manual and at my resalution 70mhz is high as it goes.

    I think you may be looking at the wrong value, as it should be in Hz not KHz.

    If you post the exact model number of the monitor I will look it up for you on the manufacturers website.

    Are there any strong magnetic fields nearby? Electric motors, flourescent lights, speakers, power lines, etc. can cause the 'shaking' effect you describe.

    If you need a utility to force the refresh rate, try "Hztool".
