    Works fine in Netscrap.

Remember when the phone company was the only monopoly around? Seems like that worked well.

Hmm, I just checked it. it works fine on all the machines here, even on mine, on which I got most of IE5.0 disabled.

Works for me! (the link, that is)

How very true! This is why I will NOT be "upgrading" to XP any time soon! (If I am a beta tester I'd like to know first.)

And make this very clear: the recent decision by the government to stop pursuing Microsoft has nothing to do with right and wrong, little to do with the law, and EVERYTHING to do with the economy.

    This is my favorite part:
I have at least 10 programs installed on my computer right now that were purchased at very reasonable prices, and explicitly included rights to all future updates and versions at no additional charge. Under such an agreement, the developer is demonstrating a true appreciation for the consumer's patronage, and acknowledging a responsibility to the consumer, in a continuing relationship over years to come. Microsoft acknowledges no such appreciation, or responsibility. If they did, then Windows XP would be free to registered users of any previous Windows version, who have paid dearly over the years, not just in dollars, but in frustration.
I guess by his logic that since I own Diablo, I should be entitled to Diablo II and the Lord of Terror expansion pak for free since they are updates to the origianl program. (My wife says she should get House Party, Livin' Large and Hot date for the SIMS free too) If I remember right, all updates, fixes and security patches for the OS you are currently using are free from Microsoft.

I dopwnloaded the most recent " Critical Updates"
for Win 98 and talk about a mess!!!! Luckily I didn't have to re-format, just removed the updates and run Norton Utilities and re-install Netscape/.
I was lucky My daughter, who at that time I was not not aware had the "automatic" critical update was downloading while surfing around. Fortunely she told me what was going on and I had never had so much pleasure as I did when I hit the "CANCEL" box....WHEWWWWWWWW!!!!

    Dear Madfish:

Does Our Beloved M$ have a slough of lawyers like the article suggest [hyperlink works Ok] to boilerplate it with legalese--perhaps even a disclaimer of responsibilty of everything except collecting royalties--OR is it willing to accept reduced royalties in consideration of reduced utility.

Has anybody ever read a two-way disclaimer? Must be a bunch of four-hundred dollar an hour law firms right here in NYC working on it right now!

Hmmm..sounds slightly like a problem I recently had with a company that "went disclaimer"!

    ---------------------------
P.S. I especially like the line about "paying dearly.... with frustration."

I once had a manager make a phone call to another FRY'S to help me: "We have a very important person here...it's called a customer".
