sound card 1/2 duplex
went to one of these free phone thingies and told have 1/2 duplex card, would have to switch mike, didn't notice when bought. noticed headsets at store have no mike sw. duh. any way around or do I have to get a new card, any recomendations for a reasonable priced one? should it be marked on the box?

I could be wrong here, but I thought with half duplex you're limited to non-similtaneous two-way communication. Same as a walkie talkie.

yep thats it, full duplex can both talk same time

Ok, that being said, why won't it work with what you've got?? As I recall, back when I had an old 1/2 duplex card, in Netmeeting you just waited for the other guy to quit talking before you replied. Did'nt need to key any mike switch. It was a pain, but it worked. I suppose this phone deal works differently??
