Looking for IntraNET Phone List app (ASP?)
I am running an intraNEt website (only for our internal users) and would like to make a internal phone book that is database driven (I am running IIS5) and either would like it in .asp or .php/.cgi.
Has anyone seen such a thing. features would include being able to search by last/first name... display the users Alphabetically... allow only admins to add/remove names by an seperate admin panel etc.
This would display on our Intranet website, currently we are using the one provided by our AS400 system.
Has anyone seen such a beast or maybe one that I could configure... also I would be able to pay for it since its through our company.
Thanks, Sixpac

Thats pretty much what I am looking for!
Maybe you could ask your web admin to shoot me over a copy

How good are you with ASP? I have something that I use for our "Biography Page" that runs on a SQL (could be changed to Access as well) backend, and displays pics of the personnel that allow people to click on them (or their names) and get more info. I haven't gotten around to setting up a search function yet, but that's easy to do as well.

Thanks Judge maybe your could shoot something over. I am pretty skilled in .asp and sql so no big deal there.
I wasn't really looking for something with pics in it. Just some type of admin panel so only admins could add/delete info.
Its really just an online phone directory with a little more information and the ability to search too.
Thanks, Sixpac

It would be really easy to knock that together in ASP and you can run the database from Access if you can't afford SQL (using ODBC - Microsoft Access).
The ASP code required to make that would be really quite simple:
Page for Entry
Page for Edit/Deletetion
Page for Search
Page for Result List
Page for Details
There are loads of tutorials online for creating basic ASP pages...you shouldn't require more than two or three hours to put this together.
Good luck...WahreZ

I'd just bung together a couple of Access Data Access Pages (just look up Data Access Pages in the Access help). Incredibly bloated, of course, but it'll do the job & give you consistent appearance & behaviour.

There is a intranet phonebook thingey at freshmeat
try searching for 'phonebook' at www.freshmeat.net
there is a very good open source program which should do the trick written in php.
Cheers
